The provincial government has officially opened the newly constructed Sinenhlanhla Primary School in Bronkhorstspruit. This is the 49th new school to be opened since 2014.
The school will provide access to quality education and further change the profile of schools in the township.
Catering for 1,200 children from Grade R to Grade 7, the school is a modern information technology enabled centre and falls in the mega school category. The school boasts 28 smart classrooms, smart science laboratories, multi-purpose rooms, a library and a nutrition and dining centre.
But Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi warned parents “If you burn this school down, I’m not going to build another one for you” when he introduced the state-of-the-art school to the community. The local councillors made a commitment that the community would protect the new school from vandalism, destruction and theft.
The “smart school” boasts, among other things, special soundproof walls which can also retain heat, as well as solar panels as alternative source of energy. The roof is insulated to reduce the loss of energy from the buildings.
